Robes are stupid. My sorcerer dresses like Petyr Baelish.
To expand: if you are a mage, dress like a noble. Do not dress like a wizard. Pointy conical hat and sky-blue robes is medieval semaphore for “kill first and with extreme prejudice.” Tailored black silk over cloth-of-gold and studded with rubies says “Harmless, but valuable; ransom if possible or kill last.”
If you dress like a noble, they’re not going to pay attention as you take a turn or two to back away from the melee and prepare yourself. The ruse is only broken when you reveal yourself, at which point 8d6 fire damage is screaming toward them at Mach Fuck anyway, so no big.
counterpoint: if you don’t get to dress like someone ran a magical thrift shop through a rototiller and frankensteined the pieces back together what’s the god-damned point of being a wizard
The sartorial differences between wizards and sorcerers are on display, I think.
That makes perfect sense, really, since sorcerers don’t generally get a choice about gaining spellcasting abilities and might not want to advertise them 24/7 whereas wizards put a lot of effort into becoming wizards and didn’t spend years in Wizard Grad School just to be low-key about it.
That is CRIMINAL to send him back!
That judge must be republican
Yo if a child is crying this hard and begging not to go back to their mother’s house, SOMETHING IS CLEARLY WRONG. Protect the kids, man. Smh….
Oh no… my heart aches
Poor baby, hurts me bc this is everyday shit…
This shit fucked me up…..
I always tell myself not to watch these things but always end up watching them & crying & feeling like a horrible person because I want to help so bad but I know I can’t. Ugh I really hope they fix this & help this child
According to this, the dad got in trouble for illegally taking Mikey to Massachusetts without checking with the Illinois judge. They’re trying to terminate the dad’s parental rights because they’re claiming he kidnapped his kid- that he had primary custody of- and instead returning him to his mom who not only demonstrably physically abused him, but it running a fucking meth house. It’s fucking wild.
1. People putting videos of their children crying on the internet rarely have those children’s best interests in mind, it’s exploitative behaviour. Putting this kid online like this, with explicit details of the alleged abuse, is not in his best interests.
2. Custody cases are often messy, with accusation of abuse on both sides, and neither parent being ideal.
3. Primary custody doesn’t mean you can run off and deny the other parent contact, which seems to be the case here. That is actually kidnapping. And running to another jurisdiction of avoid social services rather than turning up at a best interest hearing is not a good look.
4. The courts/social services generally can’t provide statements on this kind of thing, because it’s private, to protect the child.
5. Charges against the mother were dismissed, and she apparently showed progress in drug treatment. Even if the abuse happened under her care, something like leaving the abusive partner who was responsible would render her a fit parent again. If they had clear evidence that the mother abused the child, they wouldn’t be sending him back. Not even republicans. Seriously.
6. You’re only getting one side of the story here. Specifically the father’s, and he’s very vague about a lot of things, specifically why the courts don’t think he’s a great parent, or why the charges of abuse (very serious charges of abuse) against the mother were dropped. It could well be because they were obviously made up.
Essentially: this video is heartbreaking, but we have no idea what’s going on. It could be that the kid is scared of being sent back to an abusive mother, it could be that he’s scared of going back because his dad said his mum will hurt him. We have no way of knowing.
Family court judges are rarely actively malicious. They always have information the internet doesn’t. They might be bigoted and prejudiced, but they’re not going to deliberately send a kid to an abusive parent over a good one.
Child custody cases should not be solved by internet petition!
i seriously can’t believe so many people are taking this dude’s word for it when he’s willing to put his kid’s face, full name, details of abuse, video of him in pain, etc. on the internet to fundraise and get people to… sign a change.org petition? like… there is absolutely another side to this story, and the side we’re seeing is also exploitative and abusive.
i have officially piqued, i’ll never be funnier than this moment in time
i was walking through the grocery store ignoring everyone and i walked around the corner and ran right into this old mans cart and i was like “oh god, my bad, i didn’t see you there” and when i looked up, he was wearing all camo. down to his hat. his wife lost it laughing. i’ll never be funny again
