My initial thoughts on Detroit: Become Human were “I hope this game fails miserably and David Cage fucks off”, but my stance is slightly changed.
After learning that Sony had more say in the game’s development, that there were creative conflicts with the actors and David Cage, the fact that there isn’t a single creepy rapey scene or gratuitous sex/shower scene, and legitimately competent segments, I kinda just want David Cage to get fired.
The guy has been a known creep and a hack for years, and Quantic Dream boasts some of the most impressive tech in games and incredibly skilled developers. Just kick out David Cage, or keep him in a cell where he’s only allowed to spout ideas but has no creative control over anything at all.
Nothing is sadder to me in Connor’s arc in D:BH than that conversation he attempts to have with Hank to break the ice where he’s all ‘I like dogs… in theory. I’d be WAY into music… if I’d ever listened to any.’ Like he comes preloaded with a personality and the rational thinking ability of an adult – he even knows how small talk works, and that’s a relatively high-level social function! But there are all these big gaps where individual experience should be and it’s only as he’s speaking that he realises it.
so uh since it’s going to be the week the events of dbh takes place soon (Nov 5th-11th) i wanted to do a DBH week sort of thing? this is what i’ll be doing. feel free to join in and celebrate this hell game!
